The area around Dresden has become a high-growth business location. Ottendorf-Okrilla is located in the western part of the Bautzen district, about 20 kilometres from Dresden. Especially the good traffic connection, north of the BAB 4 and the B97, has driven the developments of the industrial area in the last years.
