First taste of the New Centre

In its anniversary year 2018, TUM is holding Open House Day at all university locations on October 13. GALILEO at the Garching research campus will also be opening its doors to the public for the first time on this day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Straightforward, transparent and modern in design: Even from the outside, GALILEO sets a new impulse at the Garching research campus and runs through the campus as a clear north-south axis with many east-west passages. The distinctive box-type windows not only provide a visual focal point but are also an important element of the sustainable building project, as is the concept of the inner courtyards. At the TUM Open House, visitors will learn more about the special architectural details of the “Neue Mitte”. In special guided tours, interested parties can also take a look behind the scenes of the GALILEO building for the first time. “Areas that are otherwise inaccessible, such as the technical room of the Audimax, among others, will also be shown on this day,” reports Bernhard Nüsse, Managing Director of the Neue Mitte at the university campus “because the technical facilities of GALILEO are particularly exciting.” The tours take place every hour from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Prior registration is not necessary. The meeting point is directly in front of the GALILEO building.
